Valentine Sprinkle Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  

Butter Mixture
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup Valentine-colored sprinkles

Method
 

  1. In a large mixer bowl, beat butter & sugar at medium speed until fluffy, scraping sides as needed.
  2. Beat in egg & extract.
  3. Add flour & salt to butter mixture, beating just until combined.
  4. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sprinkles.
  5. Place on a paper plate & flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  6. Top with a pinch of additional sprinkles.
  7. Freeze until firm, approximately 15 minutes.
  8. While the dough is chilling, preheat oven to 350° & line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  9. Remove from freezer & place at least 2 inches apart on prepared pans.
  10. Bake until edges are lightly browned, 12 to 15 minutes.
  11. Let cool on pans 2 minutes.
  12. Remove from pans, & let cool completely on wire racks.

Notes

These cookies can be stored in airtight containers for up to 3 days, making them perfect to prepare ahead for your Valentine's celebration.
