Ingredients

Rolls
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast one packet
  • 15.25 oz red velvet cake mix
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cups butter softened
Frosting
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cups butter softened
  • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 1 packet Red heart sprinkles optional

Equipment

  • Stand Mixer

Method

  1. Grease a 9×13 baking dish. Set aside.
  2. Combine the warm water and yeast in a large bowl, allowing it to proof for 5 minutes. It should be foamy.
  3. Use a stand mixer to add the cake mix and the flour – mixing for 2 minutes.
  4. Cover and set the bowl in a warm area to rise for about 2 hours. It should double in size.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface – rolling it into a 16×12 rectangle.
  6. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Spread the softened butter all over the dough. Top with the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
  8. Roll up the dough, starting with the long side. Slice into 12 equal portions.
  9. Place the rolls in the prepared dish. Cover and set aside for 1 hour to rise.
  10. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  11. Allow the rolls to cool while you make the frosting.
  12. Whisk the softened cream cheese and butter together in a medium bowl. Mix in the confectioner’s sugar until thick and creamy.
  13. Spread the frosting over the baked cinnamon rolls and add the sprinkles.
