Method
- Bake the cake according to directions on the package.
- Let it cool completely. Optionally, put it in the freezer for about 45 minutes or let it cool overnight.
- Put the entire cake in a bowl and crumble it up using your hands.
- Stir in the container of frosting into the crumbled cake, about ½ cup at a time, until it holds together when rolled into a ball.
- Roll the mashed cake and frosting into balls and place them on a large baking sheet. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set up.
- Melt white chocolate candy coating according to package directions and dip each ball to cover evenly.
- Place the cake bites back onto the pan or wax paper and let them set up. Refrigerate to harden quickly.
- If decorating with sprinkles, do so before the candy coating hardens. For red candy melts drizzle, melt candy, spoon into a bag, clip a corner, and drizzle onto each bite.
Notes
For best results, ensure the cake is fully cooled before crumbling. These bites are quite rich, so smaller sizes are recommended.
