Method
- Pick through the strawberries and separate out the ones with the best quality. Set aside those with bruising or blemishes.
- Rinse the selected berries under cold water in a colander and drain well.
- Dry the strawberries with paper towels individually to ensure no water remains.
- Place dried strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Insert a toothpick into the top of each strawberry for easy dipping.
- Place chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe container and microwave for 1-2 minutes on 50% power, stirring every 60 seconds until melted.
- Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate, coat almost to the stem, let excess drip off, and place back onto parchment paper.
- Add sprinkles or other decorations immediately before the chocolate hardens.
- To add a contrasting chocolate drizzle, melt contrasting chocolate and drizzle over berries using a squeeze bottle.
Notes
If using Nonpareils to decorate, there is a chance that they will sweat when refrigerated and the colors may bleed. Serve immediately after chocolate hardens or refrigerate until ready to serve.
