Ingredients
- 1 cup butter: Make sure it’s softened for easy mixing.
- 1 cup granulated sugar: Adds the perfect amount of sweetness.
- 1 large egg: Helps bind the ingredients together.
- 1 tsp vanilla extract: For a warm, aromatic flavor.
- 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour: The base of your cookies.
- 1 tsp kosher salt: Enhances flavor and balances sweetness.
- 1⁄2 cup Valentine-colored sprinkles: Adds a festive touch.
Instructions
Cream the Butter and Sugar
- In a large mixer bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar at medium speed. Continue until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure everything is well incorporated.
Add Egg and Vanilla
- Beat in the large egg and vanilla extract until fully mixed. The egg will help bind the dough, while the vanilla adds a lovely aroma and flavor.
Incorporate Dry Ingredients
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour and kosher salt to the butter mixture. Beat until just combined, being careful not to overmix. This will ensure your cookies remain tender.
Shape and Decorate
- Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in the Valentine-colored sprinkles, ensuring they are evenly coated. Place them on a paper plate and flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass. For an extra festive touch, add a pinch of additional sprinkles on top.
Chill the Dough
- Freeze the sprinkle-coated dough balls until firm, approximately 15 minutes. This step helps the cookies maintain their shape during baking.
Prepare to Bake
- While the dough is chilling, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
Bake to Perfection
- Remove the chilled dough from the freezer and arrange them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving at least 2 inches between each cookie. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
Cool and Store
- Allow the cookies to cool on the pans for about 2 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely. Once cooled, store them in airtight containers to keep them fresh for up to 3 days.

These Valentine Sprinkle Sugar Cookies are more than just a treat; they’re a symbol of affection and joy.
