- For the Cake:

- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) buttermilk, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 tbsp (30ml) red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 16 oz (450g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter is smooth and uniform.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
