Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to delight your loved ones with a homemade treat straight from the heart. What could be more fitting than a batch of decadent Valentine Red Velvet Brownies? These deliciously rich brownies, topped with creamy white chocolate frosting and festive decorations, are sure to make a memorable impression. Follow this comprehensive guide to create a delightful dessert that blends the classic allure of red velvet with the indulgent appeal of brownies.

Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • ½ cup butter, cubed (1 stick)
  • ⅓ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp red liquid food color OR 1 tbsp red gel food color
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder

For the Frosting:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • ½ cup Valentine M&M’s
  • ⅛ cup Heart Shaped Sprinkles

Instructions

Preparing the Brownies:

  1. Preheat and Prep: Begin by preheating your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 9″x9″ metal baking pan with non-stick foil or regular foil sprayed with non-stick spray. This step is crucial for easy removal of the brownies later on.

  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a heavy large saucepan, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Once melted, remove the pan from the heat.

  3. Mix Ingredients: Whisk in the granulated sugar, ensuring it dissolves well into the chocolate mixture. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking after each addition to fully incorporate. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and red food coloring, mixing until the color is evenly distributed.

  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Sift the all-purpose flour and baking powder together. Gradually stir the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, blending well until the batter is smooth and uniform.

  5. Bake: Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when the brownies are puffed, dry-looking, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only some moist crumbs attached.

  6. Cool: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. This helps them set properly before frosting.

Preparing the Frosting:

  1. Melt and Mix: In a small saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate chips. Heat over medium-low, stirring continuously until the chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  2. Frost the Brownies: Pour the melted white chocolate mixture over the cooled brownies while they are still in the pan. Gently spread it to cover the entire surface evenly.

  3. Decorate: Immediately sprinkle the Valentine M&M’s and heart-shaped sprinkles over the frosting. The warmth of the frosting will help these decorations adhere.

  4. Set: Allow the frosting to set before cutting into squares. For best results, refrigerate the pan overnight to let the frosting firm up completely.

Serving:

Once set, carefully lift the foil from the pan to remove the brownies. Place on a cutting board and slice into squares or rectangles. These Valentine Red Velvet Brownies can be served chilled or at room temperature, making them a versatile treat for any celebration.

Tips for Success:

  • Food Coloring: If you prefer a more intense color, opt for gel food coloring as it offers a more vibrant red without altering the batter’s consistency.
  • Cooling Time: Patience is key! Allowing the brownies to cool completely before frosting and setting the frosting in the fridge will yield the best texture and flavor.
  • Customization: Feel free to add a personal touch by incorporating different sprinkles or swapping M&M’s for other favorite candies.

These Valentine Red Velvet Brownies are a delightful blend of rich chocolate flavor and festive charm. Perfect for sharing with loved ones or enjoying as a special treat, this recipe is a testament to how a little creativity in the kitchen can create something truly special. Enjoy these sweet delights and celebrate love in every bite!
