Mini Doughnut Hot Buttered Cheerios

  • 6 cups Cheerios cereal
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently toss Cheerios to loosen.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir until smooth. If not smooth, microwave for another 15 seconds.
  4. Pour the hot butter mixture over the Cheerios and gently toss to coat evenly.
  5. Spread the coated Cheerios on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for 8 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, transfer the Cheerios to a large resealable bag or bowl.
  9. Add powdered sugar, seal the bag (or cover the bowl), and shake gently to coat.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy! Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
